BIODIVERSITY IMPORTANCE TO HUMAN HEALTH.

Biodiversity is the variety of life, its ecosystems, species, populations and genes. Human actions towards the land, freshwater and oceans have already caused biodiversity to decline.
Plants have formed the basis of traditional medicine systems that have been in existance for thousands of years. The first records are from Mesopotamia and data from about 2600 BC, among the substances used were oils of cedurus species(cedar) and cupressus semepevirens(cypress). All of which are still being used today for the treatment of various ailments.
Current usage of plant derived materials include Quinine,Arteminisinin among others. Microbially derived agents include The tetracyclines, the Anthracycline, the Aminoglycosides, penicilins and cephalosphorins. From the perspective of biodiversity, the most diverse organisms on the planet are microbes. It is estimated that less than 5% of all microbial flora have been inesitgated to date. In one cubic centimeter of soil, more than 1000 different species of microbes have been found.
Lets conserve our biodiversity for our own good, lest we perish.

Let us work together in making Eco-friendly generation

Our Surrounding is our life....

CONSERVATION WHERE YOU ARE

Environment is a very important element in our lives. It defines our life by providing fresh air, it provides food from the various vegetation, it offers life, space to play and work on and above all gives us a chance for existence. Mother nature as we at times refer to it is like a parent. She has given us all the minerals among others life and wealth. Over the years, we have failed to take care of the environment, we have caused harm to the same enviroNment that has been taking care of us. We cause harm to the enviroment through:
  • Deaforestration
  • Water, land and air pollution
  • Ignorance on conservation issues.
  • Corruption and greed.
Lack of adequate conservation practises have as a result depleted the environment especially in Africa where environmental challenges are being experienced like global warming, fluctuating weather conditions, starvation, poor health, floods and desertification among others. It is therefore necessary to conserve the environment as a way of showing gratitude to mother nature for her kindness and generosity.

Play part in making a difference by supporting our conservation exercises of creating awareness in schools.
